Operating System: Android 4.1 and older

Error message "unfortunately  process android.process.acore has stopped" & "launcher has stopped". Tried to shut off tablet to reset  but  tablet will not shut off. hp logo just stays on

If you hold down the ON/OFF button for about 30 seconds, will it power-off?

Support only said to hold down button for 5 seconds. #0 worked well,
