I just ran the BIOS update ownloaded from HP website. Version F.71.  I followed the instructions as directed, kept the mains power connected.

The update seemed to be working, and got to the point where it said it would restart but it did not restart!

I am stuck with a laptop that is now rendered useless by HP's update.

Why does HP allow these updates on their system when they cause so much damage?  I have read lots of similar complaints over the last 4/5 years - same problem.  Should there not be some kind of warning that this update may render your device useless, so maybe you don't want to continue with this?

How can this be fixed now?  It doesn't respond to the Windows + B, or V combinations. I have inserted a BIOS recovery USB device but it does nothing with it. The power light comes on, I can hear the fan start up but there is nothing on the screen at all, not even a flicker.

Help please?
