Working on my sister’s old laptop and wondering if I can still get it upgraded to Windows 10. If so, would I need the product key?

Thanks

Microsoft still gives you to upgrade to Windows 10 for free and Windows 10 will activate itself using digital key. Please carefully use the following instructions

            https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/14/21065140/how-to-upgrade-microsoft-windows-7-10-free-os

FYI: I upgraded my last Windows 7 machine few week ago, actually on July 21, 2021.

Regards.
