Hello there,

 

I would appreciate it if someone here could advise on the following.

 

I've been facing issues with my laptop for a couple of weeks. When I turn on my laptop, there's an error message saying CMOS checksum error in BIOS. My battery is 0% and not charging at all, but the charging light is white as if it's fully charged. 

 

What should I do to resolve these?

The CMOS checksum error in BIOS and the issue with the battery not charging on your HP 15 laptop could be related to hardware or BIOS settings. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve these issues.

 

CMOS Checksum Error:

  • The CMOS checksum error indicates that there might be a problem with the CMOS battery or the BIOS settings. Start by replacing the CMOS battery, which is a small coin-cell battery on the motherboard. This battery provides power to the CMOS chip that stores the BIOS settings. If the battery is old or depleted, it can cause checksum errors.
  • After replacing the CMOS battery, enter the BIOS/UEFI settings and make sure the date, time, and other settings are correct.

Battery Not Charging:

  • If your laptop battery is not charging, even though the charging light is on, there may be an issue with the battery itself or the charging circuit.
  • Try removing the battery and reinserting it. Ensure that it is properly seated and making good contact.
  • Check the power adapter and the power cable for any visible damage. Also, make sure the power outlet is working properly.
  • Test the laptop with a different power adapter if possible to rule out a faulty adapter.

BIOS/UEFI Update:

  • Check if there is a BIOS/UEFI update available for your laptop model on the HP support website. Sometimes, updating the BIOS can resolve compatibility issues and improve system stability.

Hardware Diagnostics:

Thanks a lot for your reply. As you suggested, I've run the diagnostic, and the result came out as attached.

Does that mean it's solely the battery issue? And replacing the battery will resolve it?
