Clean install on SSD

BIOS set for disabled secure boot & USB CD/ DVD ROM Drive.

System sees "HP" restore USB, but fails @ 41%. It also see older "HP" recovery disks for another System.  It DOSN'T see boot device with any other know good boot disk.

IS HP PROPRIETARY SOFTWARE?

Hi:

 

The HP recovery media is proprietary in that it will only work for the specific PC the recovery media is good for.

 

If you used the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive for your 17z-CP000 and it fails, the only suggestion I can offer would be to change the date in the BIOS to the PC's 'born on' date.

 

Sometimes the recovery fails because the 30 licenses for the trial software has expired, and the recovery media won't proceed.

 

If changing the 'born on date' in the BIOS doesn't work either, then you can make a plain W10 installation flash drive with the media creation tool from the link below, and hopefully that will work.

 

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

 

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.
