HP 255 G5 Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 11

I was able to upgrade both of my HP 255 G5 & G6 from windows 10 to windows 11 and it was working just fine until a couple of months ago when Microsoft informed me of an update so  I restarted both of my laptops to do the update. The update installed on my HP 255 G6 laptop its been working just fine but my HP 255 G5 will not boot up anymore it keeps saying no hard drive detected. When I try to recover it gives me the same error message. I have tried everything I can to fix it  I have 3 questions to ask here I hope an expert or someone will help me. I like my HP 255 G5 so I need it back up and running asap!

Question One: What has happened to my computer?

Question Two: Why has this happened?

Question Three: How can I fix this myself?

Hello @KRBDX

Quick method:
In your case I would boot the notebook with a bootable USB stick of a Linux distribution, access the internal hard disk and backup the data (userprofile) to a connected USB hard disk.

There are tons of sites online...

Example:

Do not hesitate to ask further questions, I will be happy to help.

Hello @KRBDX

Your questions:

Question One: What has happened to my computer?

Faulty update packages and configuration have logically damaged the operating system/file system. Microsoft will know why ( or not ) ...

Question Two: Why has this happened?

This is unclear, in any case you have allowed the update, which is actually normal.

Question Three: How can I fix this myself?

After backup (linux method) of your really important data (office dokuments, pictures, videos ... ) you could use windows recovery to restore the system state to a previous date before your update crashed.

Please report your results.
