Thanks, this procedure worked fine for me to try out this HP service pack 'sp64144.exe' as well, after sucessfully using 'sp61037.exe' under Windows 10 (ENVY dv6).

Both service packs seem to install the driver version 4.2.9.1 to the device 'HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor' under system devices and both need as an additional installation .NET Framework 3.5, and the DriveGuard application in the control panel provides a link to Windows Update for the necessary download.

I also had a problem with HP 3D Driveguard not working error code (0xc000007b) after Windows 10 update from version 10240 to version 10560 talked with HP support with no solutions to the problem unless I wanted to pay $60.00 for out of warranty software problem.  I talked to Microsoft support staff and allowed them to access my computer. They spent over an hour trying to fix the problem withno success.  I happened on a web page explaing I might need to re-install Micrrosoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=30679). Downloaded and installed it. Fixed problem Hope this info finds those people having problems with this issue.

Just upgraded an HP Envy Ultrabook 4-1030us from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  I was able to fix the HP 3D DriveGuard "device not recognized" issue as follows:

- Search for and download the HP service pack "sp64144.exe"

- Uninstall HP 3D DriveGuard from the "Programs and Features" area of Control Panel

- Remove the associated driver via Device Manager ("cpi\\ven_hpq&dev_0004" under Other Devices)

- Reboot

- Make sure you can see the "cpi\\ven_hpq&dev_0004" device show back up in Device Manager. If it's not there, then "Scan for Hardware Changes" in Device Manager. It should show up under Other devices.

- Install sp64144.exe

- Reboot

Windows 10 should now recognize the accelerometer and you should be able to run and see settings from the control panel DriveGuard application

Thank you very much @justanothercog1. This worked like a charm.
