Over the weekend I updated my Envy 17-N152SA to Windows 10 2004 after it was offered via Windows Update.
On the whole the upgrade works perfect except for the star up/shutdown time has increased which I have no idea why.
What I have noticed is that when shutting down the HDD activity light which is usually white, then just before turning off changes to orange no longer does this..
I have uninstalled and installed the driver but so far it is the same as if they are not working with this new version of Windows, I have no option in control panel, or in the ad remove programs..
I have also notice no service is running in service manager or task manager (processes) for the 3D driveguard or the accelerometer,
Would this cause the slow start/shutdown, and what is the latest driver/version..
These are my details.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is taking longer time to shut down after upgrading to Windows 2004.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.
Press ‘Win + I’ shortcut keys to open Windows Settings app.
Click on ‘Update & Security’, then go to the ‘Troubleshoot’ section from the left-side menu.
Scroll downwards a bit and click on the ‘Power’ option.
Click on ‘Run the Troubleshooter’. It will start detecting the problems and if it founds, go ahead fixing it.
If you continue facing the issue, then follow the below steps.
On your keyboard, press ‘Windows key + R’ and type ‘Powercfg.cpl’ in it.
Hit the ‘Enter’ key to open power options in the control panel.
From the left-hand side, click on ‘Choose what the power buttons do’.
Then, click on the link ‘Change settings that are currently unavailable’.
From the bottom given power button options, uncheck the ‘Turn on fast startup’ option.
Click on ‘Save changes’ button.
If the issue persists, follow the below steps.
Go to the ‘Start’ menu and type ‘Control panel’ then hit the ‘Enter’ key.
From the top-right filter, choose ‘Large icons’ and navigate to the ‘Power Options’,
Click and open the ‘Power options’.
Select the power plan according to your requirement and click on ‘Change plan settings’.
Click on ‘Change advanced power settings’.
In the power options windows, click on the button ‘Restore plan defaults’.
Click on ‘Apply’ and then ‘OK’ button.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thank you for the reply and advice..
The notebook is now back on Windows 10 v1909 and working exactly as it should, boot up and shut down are back to normal and the HP 3D Driveguard is now working again... so a 3 year old HP Envy is not 100% compatible with Windows 10 2004 ... Just leave alone until I have to update..
Shame really as it did work OK on the whole but 3-4 mins to boot and shutdown was a pain
I must say having never needed to restore from a Macrium Reflect image, but it was a simple job, much quicker than trying to roll back Windows (and failing if my last experience is anything to go by) and took 25 mins from start to finish..
All works as it should, just needed to copy a couple of documents and forward all emails from the 14th to now to my email address.. all done!

Perfect, I am really glad to hear that the issue is resolved.
I recommend you wait for some more time until all the required drivers are available for your computer from HP for Windows 2004 version and then do the update.
Cheers!

Thank you, it is running perfect on v1909 🙂
v2004 seemed to work great apart from the start up and shutdown issues and the 3D Driveguard, but it seems a common issue..
It seems Microsoft are aware that an update of Microsoft Edge caused the issue but they are yet to fix it..
