Dear HP community. We use a lot of HP 450 Probook series products, recently the G9 models started showing

"/DMA Protection / The device attempted to access memory that it was denied access to".

Scanned device drivers with HP utility, no updates found. Laptops do not work once every 90 minutes. Tried disabling DMA. Now the laptop has a BSOD and the laptop reboots.

We are desperate. What is the solution to this problem?

We have noticed this issue on a small batch of HP Probook 450 g9 laptops running Windows 10 Pro. Resetting the BIOS and performing Windows updates did not help. We processed an RMA on one, and HP replaced the motherboard. So far, the DMA error has not shown on that laptop. It is not clear whether Windows updates or defective parts cause this issue. I hope HP can chime in and shed some lite on this.

HP They themselves do not know how to solve this problem! I have about 50 HP laptops in my company. The blue screen and the DMA Protection error appeared on the 450 G9 and 250 G10 models. Moreover, on the 450 G9 model, it was solved by disabling "DMA Protection" in the BIOS, you just need to uncheck it. But in the 250 G10 model, there is no such checkbox in the Bios. I recently updated the BIOS to the latest version - there is no option to disable "DMA Protection". I studied the information on the community - no useful answer from HP, only blah blah blah with texts on half a page, and zero real help. I curse the day when I agreed to buy these laptops for work.

We also had this issue at work.  We had to disable the DMA in BIOS and we enabled the built in Windows Memory Protection under device security.   I believe it's an issue with a incompatible driver somewhere however we haven't found what is causing the actual issue.   So far everyone that we have disabled the problem has not returned.

Experiencing a similar issue with a batch of Probook 450 G9s. This is a driver issue that recently appeared. I am working on identifying the exact driver & will update here once I find out exactly which driver seems to be the issue!

Hello! On the 450 G9, you can still solve it by disabling DMA protection in Bios. It has this option. But what about the HP 250 G10? There is no disabling DMA in Bios. I also have several HP 250 G10 and this is a big problem for users. They often have BSOD

This issue still appears to persist even with DMA protection disabled on the 450 G9's BIOS version 01.13.00 Rev.A, which was released in mid-December 2024. Has anyone encountered this issue since the last reply, or is there a complete fix available for this?

I am still investigating as this has been a continued problem on these laptops. It is 100% a driver issue.

 

Are you running Windows 10?

Windows 10/11 and pro/enterprise. The images are also very basic. They run all the drivers available from HP Image assistant and use an RDS software to remote in.

Yes, similar situation for us as well. Once I trigger another blue screen with test mode on for drivers, I should have a clear answer as to what driver is causing this bluescreen to trigger.
