HP 470 17 inch G10 Notebook PC (772L2AV)

Hi,

HP 470 G10 notebook - connected to Samsung G9 Neo screen 5120 x 1440 - Intel Iris drivers

Up until this morning - all ran fine - but then I ran the HP Support Assistant which updated the BIOS to F.07

Since then - the native screen resolution for my second screen - 5120 x 1440 - no longer appears as an option. In fact, in the display settings - when the second screen used to appear as a large rectangular box in proportion to the in built screen - it now appears as the same size

I have :
Re-installed all of the Intel drivers - Graphics and Chipset
Re-installed the software for the screen itself
Run and installed any items in MS update

Any further ideas ?

I want to roll back the BIOS - but to do so - I'm told by support - that I need to switch OFF Bitlocker - which will really play havoc with my organisations logs ins apparently ... plus - I don't have the previous BIOS, and neither can I find it anywhere online ..

Hi @s_Fat_Tony,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing resolution issues on your external screen after a BIOS update on your HP 470 G10 notebook. Here are a few steps and considerations to help resolve this.

Check Intel Graphics Settings:

  • Ensure that the Intel Graphics Control Panel or Settings app is recognizing your external monitor correctly.
  • Verify that the correct resolution options are available in the Intel Graphics Control Panel.

Check Windows Display Settings:

  • Sometimes, Windows may not detect the correct resolution immediately after a BIOS update. Go to Settings > System > Display and check if your monitor is detected properly.
  • Try adjusting the scaling options or checking the "Advanced display settings" to see if the correct resolution appears.

Update Intel Graphics Drivers:

  • Make sure you have the latest Intel Iris graphics drivers installed. Sometimes, the drivers provided by Windows Update may not be the latest version available.
  • You can download the latest drivers directly from Intel's website and install them manually.

BIOS Rollback Consideration:

  • Rolling back the BIOS is an option, but it requires disabling Bitlocker and is generally more complex.
  • If you decide to proceed with a BIOS rollback, ensure you have a backup of your important data and consult with your organization's IT support regarding Bitlocker implications.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden,

This is going to sound flippant - but, yes, I have done all of what you’re suggesting … drivers are all up to date - all options are checked - nowhere does the correct resolution for the screen (5120 x 1440) appear - where it did before the BIOS update

So - using instructions provided by one if your colleagues,  I’ve tried rolling back the BIOS - with the bit locker suspended (and yes, this did play havoc with my organisation) - but this still doesn’t work - the BIOS USB I create isn’t recognised .. and I tried with three different USB sticks …

So - again following HP advice, I’ve reset windows - with all of the fuss that that causes - I’ve now lost two business days work because of this - and even the reset hasn’t fixed it.

I have to assume now that the laptop has been rendered defective by the BIOS update - I would therefore like to arrange to have it replaced - with an item with the F.06 BIOS installed.

Please let me know how I can do this ?
