Product: HP 7 Plus Tablet
Operating System: Android 8.0 Oreo and older

My touch screen gradually failed over a period of months, with fewer areas which would accept input over time.  The screen is now dead to any input.  Is this likely a hardware failure, or is there some reset of the op system which I might try?  Replacement HP 7 Plus touchscreens are unavailable, even used.  I can still input to the device with an external mouse, and the tablet otherwise continues to work.

It is at least 6 or 7 years old now and no support, no parts. I believe HP stopped working on this type of tablet. I bought a top 10" Samsung S tablet for my wife and after around 2.5 years (2019), she wanted to replace battery. Guess what ? I sent it to Samsung and they sent back saying no available part (battery).

Thanks for the feedback.  That's what I expected, but I hate to junk stuff which should be otherwise fixable.  We've got to somehow get away from the throwaway society...
