Hi guys this is my first time posting, I recently had two windows 10 blue screen restarts on my new laptop I brought it brand new 2 months ago and I'm very worried so I've been running diagnostic tests and stuff using HP software, I downloaded HP support assistant application to see if any drivers needed updating. I saw this BIOS update, when I first received my laptop there were a bunch of updates that needed doing, these included one BIOS update but this update was through windows update and not the HP support assistant so I did the update , now 2 months after the previous bios update  I see an update for BIOS through the HP support assistant app so should I update it ? I've heard bios updated are nasty and can cause a dead laptop if they go wrong. Am I covered by the warranty which is still valid if I do update and it goes wrong ?

To answer your question, if you apply a BIOS update offered through HP and that causes problems, then HP will repair your PC under the warranty -- but understand that (1) you would have to contact HP Customer Support to make a warranty claim, (2) you would have to ship the PC to HP for repair (being without it most likely for WEEKS), and (3) in the meantime, be without a working PC.

If it were mine, I WOULD do the HP BIOS update, but I would exercise the option to save off the current BIOS first, so I have something to restore FROM if the update goes badly.
