We have a HP All-in-one Chromebase that all of a sudden has a black screen. The power is on and the accessories when plugged in via USB work, so there is power, but nothing on screen. Have tried to hold down various suggested keys, unplugging it, etc, but nothing seems to work...anyone else have this issue and been able to resolve.

Hi @RoberTina9,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already tried some troubleshooting steps, which is a good start. Here are a few more things you can try.

  • Check the display connection: Make sure that the display cable is securely connected to both the Chromebase and the monitor (if it's an external monitor). Sometimes cables can come loose.
  • Try an external monitor: If possible, connect an external monitor to the Chromebase to see if you get any display output. This will help determine if the issue is with the Chromebase's display or with the system itself.
  • Reset the Chromebase: There should be a small reset button somewhere on the Chromebase (usually a small pinhole). Use a paperclip or something similar to press and hold the reset button for a few seconds. This will reset the device to its factory settings.
  • Check for software updates: If you can access the settings menu (even if you can't see anything on the screen), try to navigate to the system settings and check for any available software updates. Sometimes a software glitch can cause display issues.

Hopefully, one of these steps will help resolve the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

This was absolutely to fix that we needed. On the back of the Chromebase is a pinhole that we were able to insert a paper clip into and simultaneously press the power button. The system went into a recovery mode and once we reinstalled Chrome OS everything works properly. We had recently taken it to a company to repair and told us it would cost about $400 (they misdiagnosed it as needing a new screen) and the machine was not worth that. So grateful for this community and the help because it was absolutely an easy fix.
