this is not available to me in teh task manager.  Where can i find a way to disable the pop up om the screen?

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

 

Go to Settings > System > Notifications and actions and under Get notifications from these senders, scroll down and turn off Conexant audio.

 

If you continue facing the issue, then you need to turn off notifications in Skype or the applications you are using.

The box is not in the notifications area, so not able to uncheck it.  i am on windows 10

I would like to inform you that there is no option to remove the pop-up. The pop-up is a part of the Bang&Olufsen audio panel. 

 

However, you can remove the Bang&Olufsen audio panel from device manager and use generic audio drivers on the computer but this will limit your audio experience.
