I have a Probook 450 G3 with black screen when I turn it on and giving the 2 long beeps and 2 short beeps which HP codes says is a BIOS issue.
So want to restore BIOS with USB flashdrive howeve when I download the bios and install on another PC to create the flashdrive I get an error syaing that it cannot find a valid bios in the 2013 naming conventions and wont let me create the recovery USB drive.
Anyone any ideas how I can create the USB flash drive manually?
Thanks

Hi
Does this match your experience?
You get a LONG (MAJOR) signal category, RED LED &
then a SHORT (MINOR) signal category, WHITE LED.
Major – the category of the error; Minor – specific error in that category
The AUDIBLE repeats 5 times, and the VISUAL until power is removed.
BIOS | 2.2 | The main area (DXE) of BIOS has become corrupted and there is no recovery binary image available. Also happens when updating BIOS. | Typically no steps needed. 1. Allow the system to complete its updates and changes. 2. If updates are stalling, attempt Sure Start Recovery. |

Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.
Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the power button for 2 to 3 seconds.
Release the Power button but continue pressing the Windows and B keys. You might hear a series of beeps.
The HP BIOS Update screen displays and the recovery begins automatically. Follow any on-screen prompts to continue the startup to complete the recovery.
HP BIOS Update recovery in progress
If the HP BIOS Update screen does not display, repeat the previous steps but press the Windows key and the V key. If the screen still does not display, your computer might not support the feature or there is a hard drive issue. Continue to the next step to install a BIOS recovery file from the HP website.
If the Power light turns off, the Power button was held too long. Repeat the previous steps, making sure to hold the button for only 2 to 3 seconds.

Hi, I have tried all the using win key + B or V and nothing comes up.
All I get is 2 long beeps followed by 2 short beeps. The Caps Lock & Num Lock flash the same 2 long flashes followed by 2 short flashes in white.
Thanks

I have been through the document. I am trying to create the USB drive stated in it but I downloaded the bios on another pc installed the software but when I run it I get an error saying "The system BIOS update file is missing or corrupt" this wont then let me create the USB drive.
I think this is HP rubbish software but I am following the video guide they supply.
So wanting to create the USB drive manually.

Hi
"" HOW TO USE:
1. Download the file by clicking the Download or Obtain Software button and saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the downloaded file is saved).
2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

Seems simple enough, so I guess it isn't.
Therefore I would try 2 USB sticks.
The first with Windows os on it
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
or equivalent.
Then if possible add a Folder called SWsetup/SP90285
and copy...
S:\SWSetup\SP90285>dir
Directory of S:\SWSetup\SP90285
03/02/2019 08:28 <DIR> .
03/02/2019 08:28 <DIR> ..
08/09/2017 07:04 4,800,000 HPBIOSUPDREC.exe
03/02/2019 08:28 3,881 HPBIOSUPDREC.log
08/09/2017 07:06 6,692,864 HPBIOSUPDREC64.exe
08/09/2017 07:07 2,287,104 HpqPswd.exe
08/09/2017 07:08 3,128,832 HpqPswd64.exe
18/07/2018 19:37 9,437,184 N78_0133.bin
31/07/2018 17:40 1,069 wsSP90285.rtf
7 File(s) 26,350,934 bytes
into it.
Then boot from the USB and find this...
Log to X: or C: and run the HPBIOSUPDREC.exe locally.
Because it does seem to offer the USB creation option that is my best solution.
AND I am inclined to agree about the quality of the software.

Hi but the windows didn't work. Not sure how it would work if the bios is corrupt and not running.
