I have a 250 G7 Laptop. I downloaded the recovery tool via cloud. infact i created 3 usb key. each time i try to recover the system to factory defaults via the usb tool installation fails towards end of recovery. comes up with SW Error

Create c:\system.sav\chkerror.cmd. Failure.flg

logfile :\system.sav\logs\checklog\Chkerr_pass_BBV3.log

Error Checking Items Memory dump could not find memory dump

this issue i have noticed since upgrading the bios to the latest. I am out of warranty and would prefer to use the HP recovery tool for the HP Software and drivers.

Any help on this issue would be appreciated

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to go into the BIOS and change the current date to the 'Born on' date you see listed.

Then immediately being the recovery process.  Don't let the PC connect to the internet to resync the time and date.

Some folks have reported success doing that because the trial software that has expiration dates causes issues when the tool tries to recover on the current date.

If that doesn't work, you can always clean install W10 by making a W10 USB installer with the media creation tool from the link below.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

No problem have rolled back the clock in bios and just started recovery again.

I know previously a square screen pops up during recovery saying Windows is now setting up the following items

Pre-OA3 Process -  has  Green tick which means its passed and completed

OA3 Process - is highlighted but no tick, then comers up with the error ( THIS IS WHERE THE ERROR IS ON RECOVERY USB KEY)

Post OA3 Process -  not highlighted doesn't get to post OA3 Process as it fails on OA3 Process

anyway, I will let you know if this has helped by rolling back the date on bios back to 17/09/2020 when my laptop was made.

This is on a HP 250 G7 3N382PA#ABG

Unfortunately even rolling the date back in BIOS the Recovery Software from HP Cloud still failed so looks like I'm stuck with the Vanilla Windows 10 and have to start from scratch. Hopefully HP finds a solution to this issue and repairs the Recovery software on HP Cloud as a lot of people seem to be having issues with it failing. everything loads properly until its gets to

Sorry, that rolling back the date to the born on date didn't work for you.
