Product: HP Chromebook 14-CAREENA

I have an HP Chromebook 14, which will not boot up. The screen flashes on and off (lit black screen to an unlit black screen) repeatedly. I attempted a hard reset and made it to the screen where I could insert the recovery drive. The chromebook went through the process successfully and said to remove the recovery media and the chromebook would reboot. As soon as I remove the flash drive, the screen begins flashing again (lit black screen to an unlit black screen). Holding down the power button doesn't turn it off or make the flashing stop. I have replaced the battery, but this did not help the situation at all. Any ideas?
