Last week, my HP Chromebook 14 (q0000ed) stopped. There was a message on the screen that CromeOS was missing. Attempts to recover the computer with a USB recovery stick failed again and again. After pressing the TAB key I saw the message: No bootable kernel found on disk.
I ordered a new SSD 16GB memory because I suspect that this memory is not reliable. Yesterday I opened the computer and he suddenly worked again. With crosh I did all kinds of tests but I could not find any failiars. By the way, my files were all still on the SSD.
Perhaps the SSD memory is still unreliable and I have to replace it. Now there is a problem with the delivery of a 16GB card.
I have 2 questions.
1 Is my suspicion correct?
2 Can a 32GB or 64GB SDD be inserted? If so, what is the maximum memory that can be placed?
Thank you for your response, Henk (The Netherlands)

Hi @HenkFC
Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.
I have gone through your post and I think it might have been an issue with the Chrome OS software. If the Chromebook is booting up and working, then there is no need to replace the Hard drive.
You can upgrade the Hardrive to 64 GB but HP does not recommend any upgrades since it will void the Warranty and because the new Hardware has not been tested with this Notebook.
Thank you. 🙂

Gooedmorning Krazy Toad,
Thank you very much for your answer.
My HP 14 Chromebook functioned for about a week and suddenly stopped working.
I've tried several times to recover the software without succes and - for me - the only option is changing the SSD.
The Chromebook is 4 years old, so there's no fear for Warranty problems.
On a forum I found some guys withe the same promlems. See:

The problem now is to find a shop where the sell the right SSD.
kind regards
