HP Chromebook - 15-de0021cl
Chrome OS

I've had this chromebook for about 6 months. It continuously shuts down or restarts, often if I have not used the computer for a few minutes. When I attempt to log back in, I get the message indicating that the system has not shut down correctly and I am asked if I want to restore previous webpages. I have already done a factory reset and recovery but the problem persists. Any suggestions??

Welcome to the HP support community.

Please try these until one works:

  • Unplug from mains power and perform a Hardware Reset
  • Settings > Advanced > Restore settings to their original defaults in case an extension is interfering
  • Powerwash in case your profile has become corrupted
  • Recovery to ensure your OS is pristine.

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestions. I have already tried all of those suggestions and unfortunately the problem persists. The computer now shuts down completely and takes several minutes to power back on. 😞

This seems to be a hardware issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Cheers.
