Chrome OS

I'm trying to use the Chrome OS recovery app to fix the "Chrome OS is missing or damaged" error but I'm not being very successful.  

1 - I can't find the model in the list for HP.

2- the model number 14-ca003cl is when typed in the filed is invalid

3 - if I pick another HP Chromebook 14 and create the USB stick with the recovery it always tells me there is no recovery on the USB after I insert it into the Chromebook

 

I've tried 3 different USB drives and still the same result.  No recovery OS found on the USB drive. 

 

The only support that HP center is like 90 miles from me.  Fortunately I still have a few days of warranty but I would like to try and see if I can resolve it first.

 

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi,

When you see the message "Chrome OS is missing or damaged"

what model number does it give at the bottom of the screen.

"Click Select a model from a list, or type in the model number of the Chromebook you want to recover. To find this number, look at the bottom of the error message on your Chromebook screen."

It's a pretty funny looking model number.

SNAPPYE25-C4A-M2G-U7Z-V5Q-A86.

When I click on the tab key, I see the same info for the HWID

Ok.

I see it does not accept the snappye tag.

Try the one for the HP Chrome 14 G5

Thanks for the continued help David.

 

My 2 attempts got to the verifying integrity of recovery media but as it completed, I get "an unexpected error has occurred.  Please refer to the URL for troubleshooting tips:

I tried 2 different USB drives

Hi.... anyone have any ideas on what I can try next?  Or should I just send it to the service center?
