I am reaching out regarding my HP Victus 15 laptop I have attempted to use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool to create a recovery USB drive, but it fails consistently with the error: "Error: 0xC0D0405 – The recovery media creation attempt has failed." I have tried this process multiple times on different systems, with different USB drives and internet connections. I believe there may be an issue with the recovery image for this device model on your servers. My warranty has expired, but I would still appreciate it if you could help me by: - Providing a direct download link for the official recovery ISO file for my device, OR - Letting me know how I can request the recovery media for my specific laptop model. Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Hi @arjgaming,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering the error "0xC0D0405" while using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool on your HP Victus 15 laptop, here are some steps that may help resolve the issue:

  1. Check System Requirements:
    • Ensure your HP Victus 15 laptop meets the requirements for using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool.
    • Ensure your internet connection is stable. A wired connection might provide more consistency than Wi-Fi

  2. Try a Different USB Drive:
    • Use a USB drive with at least 32 GB of storage.
    • Format the USB drive to NTFS using Windows before starting the process again.

  3. Update the Tool:
  4. Run as Administrator:
    • Right-click on the HP Cloud Recovery Tool application and select Run as administrator to give it the necessary permissions.

  5. Firewall/Antivirus Settings:
    • Temporarily disable any firewalls or antivirus software that might be interfering with the process.

  6. Check Disk Space:
    • Ensure there's sufficient disk space on the system drive where the recovery image will be downloaded.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
