Hi @swloke,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It seems like you're experiencing issues with the HP Cloud Recovery Tool when trying to create a Windows 11 recovery flash drive. The screen going off during the partitioning step is a common problem, and here are some steps you can try to resolve it:
Check Flash Drive Compatibility: Make sure the flash drive you're using is at least 16 GB in size and formatted as NTFS. Some users have had success with flash drives that are 32 GB or larger, as smaller drives sometimes encounter issues.
Use a Different USB Port: Try using a different USB port, preferably a USB 2.0 port if available. Sometimes, compatibility issues with USB 3.0 ports can cause the tool to malfunction.
Disable Power Saving Settings: Ensure that your computer's power saving settings are disabled to prevent the display or hard drive from turning off during the process. Go to your power settings and set the computer to never sleep or turn off the display while the recovery tool is running.
Run as Administrator: Make sure you are running the HP Cloud Recovery Tool as an administrator. Right-click on the tool’s icon and select “Run as Administrator” to grant it the necessary permissions.
Check Internet Connection: A stable internet connection is essential for downloading the ISO from HP's servers. Verify that your connection is stable and not experiencing interruptions.
Try Another Computer: If possible, try running the HP Cloud Recovery Tool on a different computer. This will help determine if the issue is related to the original computer’s settings or hardware.
Update the Tool: Ensure that you are using the latest version of the HP Cloud Recovery Tool. Visit HP's official website to download the latest version if necessary.
Disable Security Software: Temporarily disable any security software (antivirus, firewall, etc.) that might be interfering with the tool’s operation.
Check for Regional Settings Issues: Since you've mentioned that the issue occurs with other regions, double-check the region settings on your computer. Sometimes, regional mismatches can cause unexpected errors with software downloads.
Use Windows Media Creation Tool as an Alternative: If the HP Cloud Recovery Tool continues to fail, you can use the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's official site to create a Windows 11 installation USB.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, please provide any error messages or additional symptoms, and we can look into it.
