HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15m-bq1xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I noticed my CPU temp being very hot 60c or so.  I then noticed that CoolSense was no longer installed.  I reinstalled it.  I have not noticed a considerable difference in temperature. (Went down to 50).

I was doing research and found that people who also had fan issues had mentioned the Machine BIOS.  I don't know how to determine if I have the most recent version of my BIOS nor do I know where to get the new version or how to install it.

Does anyone have any other suggestions about keeping the CPU cool and information regarding the BIOS?  I have an HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15m-bq1xx

THANK YOU

Hello @TechDiva,

A BIOS update isn't always necessary but HP does highly recommend transitioning to the latest versions.

The latest version of the BIOS can be installed below:

HP Notebook System BIOS Update (AMD Processors)

Description:

This package provides an update to the System BIOS. The update installs on supported notebook models using a supported Microsoft Windows Operating System. Restart the system to complete the installation.

Fix and enhancements:

- Provides enhanced security. NOTE: HP strongly recommends transitioning promptly to this updated BIOS version which supersedes all previous releases.

The installer will guide you through the process. Please keep your notebook charging during the process.

If you've had the laptop for a while now, you can also use a can of compressed air to try and clean the vents/fans.

Kind regards,
Eddy
