After 6 years of endless travel for work I retired and replaced my HP ENVY !%t-j100 to avoid the risk of a system crash on one if my endless business trips. Last week I pulled it out of the closet and decided to take it apart and was astonished to learn that it could accommodate the 256 GB mSATA drive sitting next to it in my tool box. I installed it along with a newish San Disk 1TB SSD drive and tried to install the latest version of Win 10 Pro on the mSATA. I wanted to have my system files and operating software on the mSATA drive and keep my data on the San Disk because then I could roll through a pile of projects any time I wanted to. Windows loaded quickly and that old ENVY booted like lightning. But, I couldn't get it to work with the big data drive. The ENVY refuses to recognize the mSATA drive as the boot drive and wants me to install the operating system on the San Disk SSD and ignore that the mSATA exists. I know my ENVY is 10 years old and close to antique status, but we had a long love affair on hundreds of airline flights to more than 30 states. I still love her and would like to take her to some casual dates to Starbucks . Can anyone spare the time to tell me how to make my HP dream come true?
Best,
MENTETH
