HP ENVY d7 will not boot. It starts and stops

I have 2 HP Envy notebooks. One is HP ENVY and 1 is HP ENVY d7. The d& computer will not boot up It starts and stops .At one point it did get far enough to lt choose to rescue but stopped at 3%

I have a recovery stick for the ENVY computer . Can I use that to try to get the d7 computer booted up? Can I run a check disk program to try to save the c drive

@chawk316 You can do both, use the recovery media/stick and try the check disk, however, before you do, try the below steps:

• please Perform a hard reset, Attempt a BIOS recovery  and then, Run the System Diagnostics tests.
