Hi @Clocksmith3947

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining what happened—it's frustrating when a simple upgrade leads to hardware issues like this.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help restore your HP TrueVision HD camera and its driver on your HP Envy dv6 running Windows 10.

1. Scan for Hardware Changes

Sometimes Windows can detect and reinstall missing hardware automatically.

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Click Action > Scan for hardware changes.
  • Check if the camera reappears under Imaging Devices or Cameras.

2. Enable Camera Access

Make sure Windows is allowed to use the camera.

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
  • Ensure Camera access for this device is turned On.

3. Install Driver via Windows Update

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click Check for updates.
  • If a camera driver is available, Windows will install it automatically.

4. Download Driver from HP

If Windows Update doesn’t help, manually install the driver:

  • Visit the HP Software & Driver Downloads page.
  • Enter your exact model (e.g., HP Envy dv6-7210us).
  • Select Windows 10 (64-bit) as your OS.
  • Look under Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices or Software - Multimedia for the webcam driver.
  • Download and install the driver, then restart your laptop.

5. Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

If the camera still doesn’t show up:

  • Download HP’s diagnostic tool from HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run a component test for the camera to check if it’s being detected at the hardware level.

Let me know how it goes—I’ll be right here if you need help with any of the steps.
