HP ENVY X360 - 13-ar0800no

Hi,

I have had a HP ENVY X360 - 13-ar0800no for 3 years and the last year the laptop is running noticeable slower and the fan is running with even basic apps (e.g. Word and Powerpoint). I only have 8GB RAM, but I still do not understand/accept that the laptop should be this slow.

Any recommended improvements?

@OleBrumm,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Well, why don't you start with cleaning the guts of your laptop -more specifically, the cooling fan.

Your HP ENVY X360 - 13-ar0800no (6SQ55EA), according to: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-13-ar0000-x360-convertible-pc/26084836/product-info, and: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06262637, requires this cooling fan, with p/n: L53434-001.

In this HP YouTube instructional video, it shows you how to remove the back cover to reach the cooling fan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tI2f0cNrjY -see timestamp 17:08.  Don't remove the fan necessarily, just use compressed ("canned") air to blow out all the dust from the fan and the motherboard.

Put your laptop together, and see if the problem has been resolved.

If you suspect that the cooling fan has gone bad, you can purchase a replacement fan, such as via eBay Great Britain: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115863246749?epid=14043541398&hash=item1af9fcd79d:g:S6EAAOSweAlktV55&amda....

The 8GB RAM is soldered onto your motherboard (as is your CPU), so you would not be able to remove/upgrade it.  The only way to upgrade your laptop is to purchase a different motherboard with 16GB of RAM:

If you want to consider this route, the least expensive purchase option -at least from the US perspective, is AliExpress:

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
