HP ENVY x360
Microsoft Windows 11

Plugged in my HP ENVY x360 to charge but the LED light beside the charging port did not turn on and it didn’t show on the screen that it was charging. Tried a different outlet and charger but it still didn’t charge. I then tried to turn my laptop on to see if I could check if there was a problem with the battery, but it wouldn’t turn on even though it was at 6% when I shut it. I held the power button on for up to 20 seconds several times and it didn’t turn on. I’ve had this laptop since November 2023, was working perfectly all throughout and even during the day previous to this. Any help is welcome, please and thank you.

Hi @Moreno0009,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP ENVY x360 is experiencing a power issue that could be related to the battery, charger, or internal components.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this problem:

1. Check the Charger and Charging Port:

  • Inspect the Charger: Make sure there are no visible signs of damage on the charger, such as frayed wires or bent pins.
  • Try a Different Charger and Outlet: Since you've already tried a different charger and outlet, confirm that these are known to be working with other devices.

2. Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect All External Devices: Unplug any USB devices, external displays, or peripherals.
  • Remove the Power Source: Unplug the laptop from the charger.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect the Charger: Plug the charger back in and see if the charging LED lights up or if the laptop turns on.

3. Check for a Loose Battery Connection:

  • If your HP ENVY x360 has a removable battery (some models do not), try removing the battery and then reinserting it to ensure a proper connection. If the battery is internal, skip this step.

4. Check for Power Indicators:

  • Look for any signs of life, such as a blinking LED near the power button or keyboard. This could indicate a specific error pattern (e.g., blinking LEDs in a specific sequence can signal hardware issues).

5. Inspect the Charging Port and Battery:

  • Charging Port: Examine the charging port on the laptop for any visible debris or damage that could prevent a good connection.
  • Battery Health: Since the laptop isn’t turning on, you won’t be able to check the battery health through software. However, if the laptop powers on after these steps, immediately check the battery health using HP's diagnostics.

6. Try an Alternate Power Reset Method:

  • Some laptops have a small pinhole on the bottom or side that acts as a reset button. If your HP ENVY x360 has one, use a small pin to press it and hold it for about 5-10 seconds.

7. BIOS or UEFI Recovery:

  • If the laptop briefly turns on and shows the HP logo but doesn’t fully boot, try to access the BIOS/UEFI settings by pressing Esc, F2, F10, or Del repeatedly right after turning it on. Check for any error messages or recovery options.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
