HP EliteBook 8570w Mobile Workstation (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP EliteBook 8570w running Windows 7. Yesterday I decided to freshly install Windows 10 on it. The steps are:

1. Change BIOS boot from Legacy to UEFI Hybrid (with CSM), because the bootable Windows 10 USB drive is in UEFI mode.

2. Install Windows 10 from the USB drive. During the installation, I deleted all partitions on the 500GB hard drive, and let Windows 10 create its own partitions.

3. The Windows 10 installation was successful. I did Windows Update, then downloaded and installed HP Assistant app. The HP Assistant app prompted me to reboot. I did.

4. Since then, problem happened. The laptop showed blank screen, nothing worked except some LED lights are on. I could not get into BIOS at all.

5. I tried several ways I found on internet:

Hard Reset by holding and pressing Power button for 15 seconds;

Recover BIOS by pressing Win+B+Power button;

Detached laptop battery and CMOS coin battery;

Remove hard drive, etc.

None of them worked. It just showed a blank screen, and I could not login into its BIOS and it was bricked.

Please help! Thank you.

I followed this guide, used a USB drive to recover the BIOS successfully: HP Notebook PCs - Recovering the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) | HP® Customer Support
