Elitebook 745 G4

I just resetted the Elitebook 745 G4 BIOS to Factory Settings and now it asks for a password. While I don't know how HP handles this it surprises me that there is a password prompt after resetting the BIOS to factory settings. So my question is: What is the default password? / How do I get rid of the password protection?

Background information: There was a BIOS password before. I have that password and I had to enter it to reset the BIOS to its defaults.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards

Roberto

For that model you will need to contact HP in your region and they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

When talking to the HP rep ask them to escalate your service request.

Just to note:

Do not try removing the RTC/BIOS battery.  It will not remove the password, but it will reset the clock - as SMC files are time coded, a large disparity between the system clock and the time encoded in the SMC will cause it to fail.
