HP EliteBook x360 1030 G8 Notebook PC (1G7F2AV)

Hi,

I have an issue with my HP Elitebook 360 1030 G8.  The battery loses power even when shutdown (in 4 hours today it lost 10%).  I have had great support from HP in that they keep replacing components, so far they have replaced the battery twice and the whole motherboard, however they haven't really diagnosed the issue .  Also since the motherboard was replaced the only way I can now properly shutdown is by holding the power button down.   I can't see how this could still be a hardware issue but so far with software I have tried:

  • Updating BIOS to the latest available and also returning it to default settings
  • Turning off Fast Startup, Sleep and Hibernate
  • Turning off USB charging
  • Turning off all Intel Management Engine Interface power management options
  • Updated to Windows 11 and also returned to Windows 10 and performed a complete reset.

I will contact them again during office hours however thought I would ask for more suggestions on here as well.   An interesting note from the battery usage graph is that whilst the laptop is shutdown it shows that the screen was on for the whole time - with no apps using power.  Is this a Windows 11 error or could the screen really be drawing power?

Thanks.
