My laptop HP Envy 15-ep1000 will appear to go to sleep in that the screen goes off and the power button light slowly flashes. My concern is that when sleeping with the power cord plugged in, it gets really hot and stays hot until i unplug the power cord. It will stay hot all day if i leave it plugged in. It doesn't matter if it times out or i put it to sleep. No change after trying several of the suggestions in the forum including restore default settings for the power plan and disable fast startup. I checked it is at the latest version with all patches and updates are applied. I am out of ideas and need some help.

Hi,
Welcome to the HP Support community.
- It is normal and as per design for the device to get hotter during charging.
You need to define what "really hot" means for you ? Some people might be more sensitive... - Where exactly is it hot ? Can you take pictures and edit them, pointing to the hot areas ?
- Is it getting hotter while not in sleep mode when the power adapter is plugged in ?
While we cannot check the internal components temps during Sleep mode, you can do it immediately after resuming from Sleep. You can use this free app HW Info >> https://www.hwinfo.com/
and run its Sensors mode only straight in the seconds after you resume from Sleep. Check the CPU/GPU/SSD temperatures and provide pictures & feedback here.
- Is your BIOS version up to date , running latest version ? You can take it and install it from here >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
- Can you do a test for me ? Disable WiFi and ensure no wireless adapters are active. Then put the computer to Sleep and see if it will get hotter with wireless stuff disable.

Hello, thanks for the reply.
It is not normal for a fully charged plugged in laptop to get much hotter after it goes to sleep and stay hot all day until turned off.
Last I checked with a temp gun, it was 104 degrees after sleeping several hours. It is warmest near the top center of the keyboard around 7 and F7.
I updated all the patches, drivers and bios is the latest F.11.
I tried resetting the power plan and disabling fast fast startup.
I uninstalled antivirus and unused apps.
No change with wifi disabled.
No change with bluetooth disabled.
