Hi @Mace476,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Warping in laptops, such as your HP Envy 360, is often a sign of overheating or other internal issues. Here are steps you can take to address and potentially fix this problem.
Immediate Steps to Prevent Further Damage
- Shut Down the Laptop: If the laptop is currently on and showing signs of excessive heat, shut it down to prevent further damage.
- Allow It to Cool: Let the laptop cool down completely before inspecting or attempting any fixes.
Diagnose the Cause
- Check for Obstructions: Ensure that the vents are not blocked by dust or debris. Clean the vents using compressed air.
- Update BIOS and Drivers: Sometimes, overheating can be mitigated by updating the BIOS and system drivers, as these updates can improve fan control and overall thermal management.
- Check for Software Issues: High CPU usage due to software can cause overheating. Use Task Manager to identify any processes that are using excessive resources.
Potential Fixes
- Use a Cooling Pad: A laptop cooling pad can help reduce the overall temperature of your device.
- Replace Thermal Paste: Over time, the thermal paste that conducts heat away from the CPU can degrade. Replacing the thermal paste can improve heat dissipation.
- Fan Replacement: If the fan is not working efficiently, it might need to be replaced. This can often be done relatively inexpensively.
- Battery Check: A swollen battery can cause physical warping. If the battery is swollen, it should be replaced immediately. This is a critical issue and can be dangerous.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
