Was watching a movie on my laptop, it went to sleep while I was away and I came back and moved the cursor. The screen immediately went pink and after restarting, there was screen burn. I restarted again and now I can’t even turn the computer on. It won’t turn on with the power cord in, and even when the power button lights up nothing is shown on screen. I can’t press keys to go into recovery or find out what’s happening, at all

Hi @Welkyr,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Envy Laptop is experiencing a severe hardware issue, potentially related to the display or internal components. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.

Power Reset

  • Remove any peripherals (e.g., USB devices, external hard drives).
  • Disconnect the power cord and press and hold the power button for 15–30 seconds.
  • Release the power button and wait a few seconds, then reconnect the power cord and try turning the laptop on again.

Hard Reset with Battery Removal (if applicable)

  • If your HP Envy has a removable battery, try taking it out, holding the power button for 15–20 seconds, then reinserting the battery, connecting the charger, and powering on the laptop.

Check for External Display Output

  • If possible, connect your laptop to an external monitor using an HDMI cable or similar.
  • See if the display shows up on the external screen. This could indicate that the internal display is the problem.

Inspect Power Indicators

  • Check if the power light or caps lock/Num lock keys are blinking in any pattern. HP laptops sometimes signal hardware errors through these lights (e.g., 3 blinks = memory issue).
  • If you notice a blink pattern, it could indicate a hardware issue, which may help narrow down the cause.

Attempt BIOS Recovery

  • Try turning the laptop on while holding down the Windows + B keys, then press the power button.
  • Keep holding Windows + B for a few seconds. This attempts to recover the BIOS, which may help if the system isn't booting correctly.

Inspect for Physical Damage

  • Given that the issue started after the screen turned pink, there could be internal damage to the display or other components (e.g., a failed GPU or display cable issue). Inspect the screen for any visible cracks or abnormalities.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
