HP Envy
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

PROBLEM: When I press the power or sleep button, my computer shuts off instead of entering sleep. From this point, the power button does absolutely nothing for approximately 60-seconds, at which point I can finally turn my PC back on. My PC did not have any issues before the latest W10 update! MODEL: HP Envy m1w07ua #ABA

ATTEMPT-1: Updated Windows 10. Ran HP Support Assistant and selected my notebook then did all updates. After this, I updated my system BIOS by looking up my product number on the HP website and downloaded a newer BIOS than what I had installed, then installed it and rebooted my computer. On reboot, I check my BIOS to ensure everything is fine. The PC still shuts off when I enter sleep mode...

ATTEMPT-2: Go to "Power & Sleep" settings to make sure they say Never, then "Additional Power Settings" and "Choose what the power buttons do", and I set all to "Sleep" and I save the changes. Then I check my custom plan and make sure nothing will shut off the PC. After several attempts, each time the computer should enter sleep mode, it instead shuts the PC off...

ATTEMPT-3: After reading various fixes dated years ago, several suggest uninstalling the video display driver, rebooting, then reinstalling them. I did this. It didn't work. The PC still shuts off when I enter sleep mode...

I am about to lose my mind here. I just disabled sleep mode entirely, but I'd really prefer to get it functioning properly again! Any help is much appreciated!

@Taem Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the HP Envy m1w07ua #ABA shuts down PC on sleep.

In that case, I would suggets you contact our phone support and check for the support option. They will help you.

Or you can contact local service center for repair.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.
