HP Envy

Hi. I purchased my HP Envy notebook in 2017. i am out of warranty now and am having some hard drive issues.

I first got an error message saying that the SMART drive may have imminent failure 301. It then prompted me to run diagnostics which I did. the Quick test reveals and error message and issued me a failure ID. I am not sure of what the exact issue is. Since it is out of warranty, they ask to send it to the US which I can't do. Is there a way to fix this issue remotely or will my hard drive need physically replaced?

There are some pending BIOS updates - should i go ahead and update these in order to see if this fixes the issue?

Alternatively, should i attempt resetting default BIOS settings? Appreciate advice in this regard. Thanks

Hi,

If it has generated a Failure ID, then I am afraid we may have to replace the Hard Drive.

Updating the BIOS may not affect the outcome as the HDD has failed.
