Microsoft Windows Vista

Hi. As u can see i  have old laptop. I have problem with Factory Image Recovery. I started it 36h ago and it's still running. Everytime it's checking files, then progress goes to 100%, computer resets and then starts checking files again.

I tried Diagnostics Tools and everything works except Run-in test. Test does the same thing. Goes Test to 100% , then starts Test 1 Quick and again starts it. It's like a loop. I tried also safe mode, but Recovery after all starts again.

Please help me. It's very important.

IF you had bothered to make an image backup of the drive prior to this problem, you could have then replaced the drive and restored the PC to working condition using that backup -- but without that, you would have to install Windows afresh, and for that, you need Windows install media -- and for Vista, that has not been available for years now.

You could look around online for something known as CloudReady -- which is a utility you can use to turn SOME older laptops into ChromeBooks.  But it does not work on all of them and we do not provide any support or assistance for it.  But if it worked, you would still be able to use the laptop.

Good Luck

Sorry, but if the information you posted is correct -- in that you're running Vista -- then you are basically out of luck.

HP has not carried recovery media for Vista for years, so there is nothing you can get to restore your PC from HP.

The other sites that used to carry the media also no longer carry Vista-era media, so you're out of luck there, too.

And, Vista has no Upgrade Path to any newer OS versions anymore.

So basically, you have little choice other than to retire the PC.
