I’m on Windows 11, I haven’t been able to solve this problem, It’s been like this for a while. I’ve updated, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. I’ve restarted my computer. I’ve tried certain commands on Command Prompt. HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows wasn’t much help either. This has happened twice with this being the 3rd time, I was able to fix it those times, but when trying this time those solutions failed. External keyboards worked, so the problem is the keyboard. Can someone help?

@DonDude3, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Keyboard not working!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I know how frustrating it can be when your built-in keyboard suddenly goes quiet, especially after trying so many fixes. It sounds like your HP laptop keyboard is being stubborn this time around.
Since external keyboards work fine, you're right — this does point to the internal keyboard itself. A few things you might want to try, if you haven’t already:
Power Drain Reset
Shut down your laptop completely, unplug the charger, and if your model allows, remove the battery. Hold the power button for about 15 seconds. Then reconnect everything and power it back on. Sometimes, a static buildup can cause the keyboard to misbehave.
BIOS Keyboard Test
Restart your PC and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears. Then hit F2 to enter the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics. From there, check if the keyboard responds during the test. If it doesn’t register keystrokes here, it’s most likely a hardware issue.
Check for Malware or Filter Keys
Rare, but a sticky Filter Keys setting or even malware can interfere with keyboard response. Head to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard and toggle off Filter Keys. Also, a quick scan using Windows Defender can’t hurt.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you for your response. I’ve tried the BIOS Keyboard Test and keyboard settings For the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics keyboard test, the keyboard acts weird and registers ctrl when any key is pressed except the power button. After the first keystroke, the rest don’t register. Only the power button is fully functional. In the settings, filter and sticky keys are off. I haven’t tried the power drain reset, so I’ll look into it. Is there any solutions you recommend trying before doing that?
