After reinstalling windows I'm unable to find an SM bus controller driver. I've downloaded all updates from microsoft, all software and drivers for my laptop from the HP drivers downloads page and have installed the graphics and chipset drivers directly from AMD using their autodetect system. Below is as much info on my laptop as I can find, any help would be massively appreciated.
Many thanks,
John G

It worked! Thank you so much I've been going round in circles with this and you answered my question within minutes with a working fix, Brilliant!
In other devices there is still an unknown device, there were 2 but I assumed they were to do with the SM Bus controller but I think it may be the card reader driver, not too concerned now I can rule out that bus controller.
Thanks again! 🙂

You're very welcome, John.
It wouldn't be the SD card reader because that would show up as a PCI Device if the driver was missing.
I can give you the drivers for anything that is missing.
Please post the hardware ID's for the unknown devices needing drivers, so I can figure out what driver they need.
Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device...

Hi, John:
You need to install the Synaptics touchpad driver for that device...
This is the latest one from your notebook's support page.
This package provides the driver that enables the Synaptics TouchPad in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The driver enables general touchpad functionality (for example double-tap and scroll) and provides a user interface.

Brilliant! Right again, thank you again Paul everythings all in order though I did have to use the earlier driver as the latest one wasn't wanting to play ball but all devices are now ok in device manager and I can get on with the rest of my life again lol
Many thanks!!
