My laptop isn't successfully starting up, so I did the quick check, and got a FAILED message. I looked up my Failure ID and got the following:
Memory Module 1 Failure
What does it mean and what do I do?

Hi:
The error code reported means you have to replace the memory module in slot 1 of your PC.
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook, where you can find the memory module R & R procedure.

Hi:
According to the specs, your notebook originally came from HP with 1 x 8 GB of memory.
https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c04544065
This site has compatible replacement memory for your model.
https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/envy-15-k233ca
Since you have to take the notebook apart, if you can swing it budget-wise, you may want to just opt for the 16 GB kit and max it out.
https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/envy-15-k233ca/CT7117842
Otherwise, instead of replacing the 8 GB memory chip with another one, you would be better off performance - wise getting 2 x 4 GB of memory and fill both slots. That way the memory will run in the dual data rate (DDR) mode.
https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/envy-15-k233ca/CT7117844
One memory slot filled and one empty causes the memory to run in the lower performing single data rate (SDR mode).
If you just want to replace the dead 8 GB memory chip, then get this one...

Thank you! I've found 2 KINGSTON 4GB SO-DIMM DDR3 1600MHz PC3L-12800 C11 1.35V locally (Canada) , so I'll get a couple of those and let you know if they work!
