Hello HP Community,

I am facing a very disturbing audio/volume issue on my HP laptop.

Laptop details:

  • Model: HP Laptop 15s-eq2xxx

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with Radeon Graphics

  • Audio: Realtek(R) Audio + AMD Audio Device

  • OS: Windows 11

Main issue:
My speaker volume automatically jumps to 100. Even if I manually reduce it to 20 or 0, after some time it again goes to 100. Sometimes the Windows volume popup also appears repeatedly, as if the Volume Up key is being pressed.

This issue is very disturbing because the volume keeps increasing automatically.

What I observed:
In Device Manager, I also see:

Other devices > ACP HDA Node

Its hardware ID is:

ACP\DEVTYPE_0001&DEVREV_0000&VEN_1022&DEV_15E2&SUBSYS_103C887A&REV_01

I tried to update this ACP HDA Node driver using HP drivers from:

C:\SWSetup

The related HP driver folders are:

C:\SWSetup\SP154175
C:\SWSetup\SP154181

I found these drivers installed:

AMD ACP Bus:
C:\SWSetup\SP154175\src\Driver\2_ACPBus\amdacpbus.inf

AMD ACP AFD:
C:\SWSetup\SP154175\src\Driver\3_ACPAfd\amdacpafd.inf

Realtek Audio:
C:\SWSetup\SP154181\...\HDXACPHPNB.inf

PowerShell showed:

AMD Audio CoProcessor = OK
AMD Audio Device = OK
Realtek(R) Audio = OK

But ACP HDA Node still appears under Other devices. When I try to manually point it to:

C:\SWSetup\SP154175\src\Driver\3_ACPAfd

Windows says:

The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device.

So it looks like the HP driver package may not contain an exact compatible driver for:

ACP\DEVTYPE_0001&DEVREV_0000&VEN_1022&DEV_15E2&SUBSYS_103C887A&REV_01

Other troubleshooting already done:

  • Reinstalled AMD/Realtek/HP audio drivers from HP support package

  • Installed all INF files from C:\SWSetup

  • Removed and rescanned ACP HDA Node using pnputil

  • ACP HDA Node comes back again after scan/restart

  • Fixed HP Wireless Button Driver error. Earlier it showed Error, now it is OK:

HP Wireless Button Driver
ACPI\HPQ6001\3&11583659&2
Status: OK
  • Tried clean boot / disabling startup apps and non-Microsoft services

  • Removed external USB devices

  • Still after restarting laptop, volume becomes 100 and volume popup appears

My questions:

  1. What is the correct HP/AMD driver for this device?

ACP HDA Node
ACP\DEVTYPE_0001&DEVREV_0000&VEN_1022&DEV_15E2&SUBSYS_103C887A&REV_01
  1. Is ACP HDA Node under Other devices normal for HP AMD laptops, or should it be mapped to a specific HP/AMD driver?

  2. Could this ACP HDA Node / AMD Audio / HP Wireless Button / HP hotkey driver be causing the volume to automatically increase to 100?

  3. Which exact HP driver package should I install for HP Laptop 15s-eq2xxx with AMD Ryzen 5 5500U?

  4. Is this more likely a BIOS/firmware/HP hotkey issue or a physical keyboard/volume key issue?

Please help me identify the correct driver and root cause. The automatic volume increase is making the laptop difficult to use.

Thank you.
