Lately my laptop has sporadically been informing me that I need to free up some space to download updates, new files, etc. I look under Settings and programs and I am at bare bones. I delete temporary files and any files I may not need any more. I defrag and it still does no good. Any suggestions? Btw, I have no photos saved on my laptop. Thanks.

Hi,
You are currently using a stream notebook which has a limitation regarding the storage space. Please refer to this article regarding HP Stream https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Storage-space/td-p/5619043.
You may also want to check this thread for further assistance https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Stream-13-can-t-UPDATE-Windows-...
Note: HP Stream Notebook are made for streaming purposes only. You should save your files using an external hard drive or USB and avoid installing apps that might over populate your computer's ssd space
