Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I have a HP x2 Detachable 10-p0XX laptop/tablet.

I recently updated my HP Softwares and there was a suggestion from these software about the updates available.

I went through the whole process - updated all the things mentioned as it was provided by HP.

I remember one of the update was BIOS update. I also remember that HP created a new partition to save something with all these new updates.

However, after these updates my system is not booting 😞

I tried the

1. system recovery option

where it asked for the keys, provided all required stuff and got message saying no system image

2. start-up repair pc

where it came as system cannot be repaired

3. Go back to previous version

provided the recovery key and didn't do anything.
sometimes get error saying try resetting the pc. But there is no option to reset up under Troubleshooting/Advance options

4. Tried System Image recovery

error is Windows cannot find a system image on this computer

Please can you help me to get back my pc back to working.

Thanks very much

@gujalls
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, this sounds like operating system image corrupted or bios. I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Recover the BIOS using a keypress combination:

  1. Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.

  2. Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the Power button for 2 to 3 seconds.

  3. Release the Power button but continue pressing the Windows and B keys. You might hear a series of beeps.
The HP BIOS Update screen displays and the recovery begins automatically.

  • If the HP BIOS Update screen does not display, repeat the previous steps but press the Windows key and the V key. If the screen still does not display, your computer might not support the feature or there is a hard drive issue. Continue to the next section to Recover the BIOS using a USB recovery drive.

  • If the Power light turns off, the Power button was held too long. Repeat the previous steps, making sure to hold the Power button for only 2 to 3 seconds.

  • If a BIOS recovery message repeatedly displays, continue to the next section to Recover the BIOS using a USB recovery drive.

  • If a message that the computer improperly shut down or a boot problem is detected displays, follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the error.

  • If Windows starts, update to the latest BIOS version. Go to HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS for more information.

If this recovery method fails, use another working computer to create a BIOS recovery flash drive to install the latest BIOS file.

Recover the BIOS using a USB recovery drive

If you are unable to recover the last working BIOS version, install a BIOS recovery file from the HP website using a USB flash drive. Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02693833 to create BIOS recovery ( refer to Create a USB recovery drive )

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi,

Thank you for your response.

I tried Windows+B and Windows+V options - they both didn't work. Tried for many hours to make sure that I'm holding the power button for 2/3 seconds. No help.
Gave up that option - tried creating a bootable USB to recover as mentioned in your response.
Went to the download and drivers page - and didn't find my product.
Product Name: HP Laptop - x2 Detachable 10-p0XX
Product No: 1AP69EA#ABU
Serial No: 5CD7171H5V
Board CT No: PGBVE018J710TU

Tried searching with all the above options but didn't find any driver for this model.

Then I tried to use the BIOS version of HP-Pavilion 10-n100 x2 detachable pc.
- Downloaded and created a USB recovery disk from other machine.
- Inserted the USB and rebooted the laptop.
- Got a pop up saying "a media driver your computer needs is missing"

Tried different solution provided in web put nothing helped me pass through the media driver requirement.

Please can you help.

@gujalls

Thank you for the picture it explains more than words.

This looks like BIOS is corrupted and it needs to be flashed.
I would request you to contact our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to sort this out. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/

Hi,

Thanks for the response and confirming it's a BIOS issue.

I went to the link that you directed for support and the virtual agent referred me to the below link to correct the BIOS issue

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833#2d9ede1e-14e2-41b2-9413-81fa2235c227

The first suggested option of Windows + B combination to restore the BIOS didn't help me.

Tried the second option of trying to install it via the USB option. When I searched the HP site I was not able to find the BIOS that is correct for my product.

Please can you point me to the page where can I download the correct version of BIOS for my product.

Many thanks
