HP Recommended

I replaced the battery, and the charger port board because it was so worn out any movement shut it down. Now it will stay powered as long as the charger is on, but it still doesn't see the battery and disconnecting the power immediately shuts it down. It works, but it's not portable. Any ideas? Thanks for any experience here.
