Serial no: [edit]= HP Monitor w2448hc
Product No: KU912AA
Have been using this monitor with my macbook air macOS Mojave 10.14.3 and suddenly the HDMI port on the monitor has stopped working. The monitor looks to be picking it up (I have the setting showing up on the mac screen), but the screen is still blank and says "monitor going to sleep".
I tried the following but it has not solved it.
Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and the wall
Step 2. Hold the power button down for at least one minute
Step 3. Plug the power cord back into the monitor and then into the wall outlet
Step 4. Press the Menu button on the monitor
Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and select it
Step 6. Try a different cable connecting your monitor to your computer
I made sure the source was on "Auto detected" yes.
I have plugged in a VGA to minidisplay port, and while it works, the images and text are very wavey and hard to concentrate on - not sure if it is the connection/cable.
Anyone has any ideas on how to get the HDMI port to work again? Or is it a lost cause and its forever dead? A total hardware fail?
Thanks
may

@mayt007 You've done quite the troubleshooting, and before we declare it dead, I suggest checking an alternate HDMI cable to the port, to check if that works,
That way, we'd be sure if its either the cable or the port that has failed and work towards the goal of solving the issue, accordingly.

@mayt007 You are right, this does seem like an issue with the port on the monitor and I'm afraid the only way to fix it, is by replacing the monitor, I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options:
follow the below steps to get started:
1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/
2) Click on "Continue as guest".
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Click on "Show Options".
Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!

Strangely enough, I can not access HP support via any method you mentioned above (tried the Australia site). I assume this is because the warranty is expired given the monitor is a few years old now. I can't even find a way to email them!!

@mayt007 That's right, you may want to think about getting an upgrade for the same if it's beyond the warranty period: October 24, 2009
Let me know if you need anything else.
Have a good day.
