@bignateWV, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

The error code 0xc0000225 usually means Windows can't find the system files needed to boot, often due to a corrupted boot configuration or missing system partition. Let's walk through a few steps to fix this on your HP Notebook 14.

Option 1: Use HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Recommended if recovery partition is damaged)

If your recovery partition is corrupted or missing, you can reinstall Windows using HP’s official recovery tool.

On another working PC, download the HP Cloud Recovery Tool: HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support

Follow the instructions to create a bootable USB recovery drive.

Insert the USB into your HP Notebook 14 and boot from it:

  • Power on the laptop and immediately press Esc, then F9 to select the USB drive.
  • Follow on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows.

Option 2: Repair Boot Configuration Using Windows Recovery Media

If you have access to a Windows 10/11 installation USB:

Boot from the USB:

  • Power on and press Esc, then F9 to select the USB drive.

Choose Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.

In Command Prompt, type the following commands one by one:

bootrec /scanos

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec /fixboot

bootrec /rebuildbcd

Restart your PC and check if it boots normally.

Option 3: System Restore (if available)

  • Boot into recovery using a USB or by pressing F11 at startup.
  • Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
  • Choose a restore point before the issue started.

Additional Tips

  • If none of the above work, you may need to back up your data using a USB enclosure or recovery environment and perform a clean install.
  • Make sure your hard drive is detected in BIOS (press Esc > F10 at startup).

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
