My HP Notebook will NOT stay asleep.
Updated all drivers using driver easy.
Had limited success updating drivers, seemed to work for a while, then problem returns.
Tried about 25 other fixes too.
Nothing works.
Seems crazy no one can solve such a simple issue.
Any ideas PLEASE??

Hi @Crispin007,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Notebook is experiencing issues with staying asleep, despite updating drivers and trying various fixes, there are several additional steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Power Settings:
- Check your power settings to ensure that the sleep mode is configured correctly. Go to "Control Panel" > "Power Options" and verify the settings for sleep mode.
BIOS/UEFI Update:
- Make sure your system BIOS/UEFI is up to date. Visit the HP support website and check if there's a newer version of the BIOS/UEFI firmware available for your laptop.
Windows Update:
- Ensure that Windows is up to date with the latest updates. Sometimes, Microsoft releases updates that address power management issues.
Power Troubleshooter:
- Run the built-in Power troubleshooter in Windows. Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot" > "Additional troubleshooters" > "Power" and run the troubleshooter.
Device Manager:
- Check Device Manager for any devices that might be preventing sleep. Right-click on the Start button, select "Device Manager," and review the settings of each device. Look for any warnings or errors.
Network Adapters:
- Sometimes, network adapters can cause issues with sleep. Go to Device Manager, find your network adapter, right-click, and go to Properties. Under the Power Management tab, uncheck the option that allows the computer to turn off the device to save power.
Third-Party Software:
- Some third-party software or utilities may interfere with sleep mode. Try disabling or uninstalling recently installed applications to see if the problem persists.
Scheduled Tasks:
- Check for any scheduled tasks that might be preventing your computer from going to sleep. You can do this by going to "Task Scheduler" and reviewing the tasks.
System File Checker (SFC):
- Run the System File Checker to scan and repair corrupted system files. Open a Command Prompt as an administrator and type: sfc /scannow.
Check for Malware:
- Perform a full system scan for malware using your installed antivirus or Windows Defender.
Restore to a Previous State:
- If the issue started recently, consider using System Restore to revert your system to a state where sleep mode was working correctly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you Alden4 for this kind offer to assist with the "failure to stay in sleep mode" issues. Many of your suggestions have already been applied in the days before your reply, and I can confirm a noticeable improvement after trying these fixes. I have registered with HP Support and run all their diagnostic checks; thoroughly checked the device manager, power management settings, etc. and I can confirm the laptop does now stay asleep, for the majority of the time.
However, just as I finally think the issue is solved, it will start waking up again. Regardless, I am pleased to confirm the situation is vastly improved upon my previous problem of NEVER managing to keep my Notebook asleep. And I feel far more confident in dealing with any issues as and when they present.
Thanks again, Crispin

MICROSOFT HAS JUST BEEN CAUGHT SENDING OUT "BUGGY BUILD UPDATES" INTENTIONALLY DESIGNED TO SABOTAGE MACHINES AND STOP THEM FROM SLEEPING.
THE LATEST UPDATE WRECKED MY MACHINE AND STOPPED IT SLEEPING
UNINSTALLING THE LATEST UPDATE AND MY LAPTOP SUDDENLY WORKS AGAIN LIKE A CHARM
Why is Microsoft intentionally sabotaging our machines?
The reason is simple. They don't like us sharing the truth on the internet.
And will go to more and more extremes to destroy our work, wreck our machines, and sabotage our laptops.
HP SUPPORT NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS !!
