Hi @amcgee0629,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Have you made any changes to your PC software (OS) or hardware?

If your HP Notebook - 15-Dw0083wm is unable to complete the BIOS update for Intel processors, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Preliminary Steps

Ensure AC Power Connection:

  • Make sure your laptop is connected to the AC power adapter. BIOS updates require a stable power source and will not proceed if the laptop is running on battery power.

Disable Antivirus Software:

  • Sometimes, antivirus software can interfere with BIOS updates. Temporarily disable your antivirus software before starting the update.

Steps to Resolve BIOS Update Issues

Download the BIOS Update Manually:

  • Go to the HP Support Website and enter your laptop model (15-Dw0083wm) to find the latest BIOS update for your system.
  • Download the BIOS update executable file directly from the website.

Create a BIOS Recovery USB Drive:

  • Insert a USB flash drive into your computer.
  • Open the downloaded BIOS update file and follow the on-screen instructions to create a BIOS recovery USB drive.

Update BIOS from USB:

  • Shut down your laptop.
  • Insert the USB drive containing the BIOS update.
  • Power on your laptop and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  • Press F2 to select System Diagnostics.
  • From the System Diagnostics menu, select Firmware Management or BIOS Management.
  • Choose BIOS Update and follow the instructions to update the BIOS using the USB drive.

Using HP Support Assistant

Open HP Support Assistant:

  • Search for and open HP Support Assistant from the Start menu.

Check for Updates:

  • In HP Support Assistant, click on Check for updates and messages.
  • Install any updates found, including the BIOS update.

Kindly find the next set of steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @amcgee0629,

Kindly find the next set of steps below.

Using HP System Information

Get the Current BIOS Version:

  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type msinfo32 and press Enter to open System Information.
  • Note down the current BIOS version and date.

Compare with Available Updates:

  • Compare the current BIOS version with the one available on the HP support website to ensure you are downloading the correct update.

Troubleshooting Common Errors

Error: BIOS Update Failed:

  • Ensure the downloaded BIOS file is not corrupted. Try re-downloading the update.
  • Make sure no other updates or installations are running simultaneously.

Error: BIOS Update Requires AC Power:

  • Confirm that the AC adapter is securely connected and that the battery is sufficiently charged.

Advanced Troubleshooting

Reset BIOS Settings to Default:

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc to enter the Startup Menu.
  • Press F10 to enter the BIOS setup utility.
  • Use the arrow keys to navigate to the Exit menu, then select Load Setup Defaults.
  • Save and exit the BIOS setup utility.

Clear CMOS:

  • Power off the laptop and unplug it from the power source.
  • Remove the battery if possible.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any remaining power.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try updating the BIOS again.

If you have tried all the above steps and still cannot update the BIOS, there might be a deeper issue with your system. Contact HP Phone Support for further assistance.
