Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, I was running a battery calibration and it asked for my system to reboot. It rebooted and screen remains black. I thought BIOS was corrupted. I reimage the BIOS with a USB and by pressing Windows key and B. The bios reimaging was successful. But im still receiving a Black Screen

I then ran Windows key and V and received a message "The CMOS checksum is invalid. The CMOS will be reset to the default configuration and will be rebooted. Please check your BIOS Setup options to see if they change. CMOS RESET (502)"

Does this mean my CMOS battery is dead? Should I replace my internal battery?

I also did receive a 601 error this morning but it stopped.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Irwin, I’ve tried all steps multiple times. The only thing I haven’t tried is reverting BIOS firmware to a prior version. I’ve looked all over HP but it only shows firmware F-44A from August 2024

Thanks, I was able to find the previous firmware. The problem now Im facing is it dont want to go through the process when pressing Window and B. Ive tried many times and no luck.

I redownloaded the latest firmware and that does work when pressing Window and B. But I get the same results after its down restoring.

Is there any different way to restore a previous BIOS?

Hi @TmagsGaming,

I am sorry to hear that the above steps did not help much but i do appreciate your efforts in performing the troubleshooting steps.

Follow the below steps to recover the BIOS manually to fix the issue.

-Perform a power drain on your PC.

1) Unplug the power cord from the PC & wall.

2) Disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter if it is a detachable part and keep it aside.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the AC adapter, then connect it to the wall and to the charging port on your PC.

5) Power on the PC and recover the BIOS for your PC by clicking on the link.

Install all the pending updates for the Windows operating system following the below steps if it boots into windows.

Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Check for updates. If the upgrade is available for your device and you want to proceed, download and install it.
