Just purchased HP OMIMI LAPTOP on Sept 8th. I've been using it to write with everyday about four hours a day. I would use it more but in the transfer at Best Buy. They weren't able to move over my Final Draft 10. So I have been looking at different screenwriting software. When I turned on the laptop today. It ran about two minutes then shut off completely. I turned it back on. The screen read that the fan has stopped working. I couldn't believe it. Just a few weeks into having a brand new computer right out of the box. The fan goes out. My question is. Is it normal for the fan to go out on a brand new laptop?

Click here for HP's official list of hardware tests.

UEFI warranty test: Check to see if there is a hardware problem: Watch this video.

Tap the ESC key after powering on. Tap it once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash. When you see the startup menu, press F2 to run diagnostics.

If a component fails during the UEFI test then Click here to check warranty

Possibly a windows update put the wrong driver.

See if you have a restore point from a week or two earlier.
